KeraBio K31, Croda Beauty’s hair repair ingredient, received its INCI: Hydrolyzed sr-(Tripeptide-137 Hexapeptide-40 sh-Polypeptide-184 sh-Polypeptide-146)
According to Croda Beauty, this milestone marks a significant step forward in the global commercialization of KeraBio K31. The biotech-powered biomimetic bond builder delivers a vegan keratin recharge at the molecular level, strengthening hair beyond conventional repair.
“Today’s consumers expect hair care to be as sophisticated as skincare. KeraBio K31 goes beyond patching up damage; it recharges strength from within using biomimetic keratin inspired by nature and delivered through synthetic biology,” said Helene Hine, global insights and innovation manager for hair. “The INCI itself reveals the depth of the science. Using precise bioengineering, with polypeptides derived from human genetic instructions, KeraBio K31 mimics the sequence and function of natural keratin. This bond builder is rooted in real molecular performance. We’re proud to see it outperform all leading benchmarks we tested.”
According to Croda, KeraBio K31:
• Bonds within the cortex (peptide binding assay, fluorescence microscopy);
• Results in 100% stronger hair compared to the leading bond builder (cyclic fatigue);
• Improves with continued use (cyclic fatigue, multi-application data); and
• Resets hair to virgin hair (DSC data, bleached/treated hair vs virgin control).
